Apply for the Local Food Program competitive award

Applications for the Local Food Program for SY 2025-26 are now open. Participating sponsors must apply through GAINS by Thursday, Aug. 22 at 4 p.m. 

This competitive funding opportunity supports the purchase of Colorado grown, raised or processed products. Eligible sponsors are those operating the Healthy School Meals for All program, charter schools, residential child care institutions and facility schools. 

Approximately $500,000 is available for SY 2025-26. Award amounts are based on the number of school lunches served during SY 2023-24 with funding calculated at a minimum of $0.05 per lunch or a minimum of $1,000, whichever is greater. Please note: sponsors that served more than 2,150,000 lunches in SY 2023-24 are not eligible to participate.
